Slow-cooked lamb tagine with oregano and lemon, roast saffron vegetables, coriander pesto and cous cous
Warm chicken breast and tomato relish on homemade focaccia bread and chunky chips
Traditional cod fish & chips in a light batter with tartare sauce and pea puree

Had lunch at Marketlane in Cork city the other day. We ordered 3 dishes from the lunch menu and here is the verdict!

The meat of the lamb was nice and tender. The cous cous was rather fluffy and had a nice texture. Together with the roast saffron vegetables which were nice and juicy, it was a good mix. On a side note, I found that overall the gravy seemed slightly overpowering with herbs. A tad too much for my liking.

The warm chicken breast on focaccia bread was nicely done with the chicken cooked till nice and tender. It went well with the tomato relish to give a nice contrast in taste. The chunky chips were good and tasty. I would have wished for a slightly bigger portion of chicken breast in the bread.

The cod fish was cooked well with the skin being a bit crispy which good! The pea puree was nice and creamy and together with the tartare sauce it gave a bit of "tangy" flavour. However, I felt there was something missing to bring out the flavour of the cod fish. Other than that, overall it was a pretty decent dish.
